Parker is a small town located to the east of Plano, Texas and is ideally
situated about 20 minutes of Dallas and 45 minutes from Fort Worth.
Don't let the size of the town deceive you! This place has earned a
national reputation as one of the best places in the country for employers
to do business and for families to live and work.
Throughout much of this century Parker relied on surrounding farms and
ranches for its livelihood. By the 1960s, the growth of both Dallas to the
south and the success of several large high-technology firms began to make
their influence felt on the local economy and city planners began making
preparations for the growth they believed was inevitable.
When the U.S. population began its historic shift in the 1970s, nearby
Plano welcomed newcomers with open arms and this resulted in added
development to the surrounding areas, including Parker. This means Parker
has the best of both worlds - a developed suburban area that escapes urban
sprawl.
Impressed by the meticulous planning and development of the town and the
positive attitude of the local business community, many professionals and
executives began moving to Plano and then to the outlying areas, including
Parker.
Housing tends to be large and sprawling in the northern areas of the
greater Dallas area. The average home built in the last three years has been
over 3,000 square feet and are valued at over $200,000. However, these are
not the only options available to prospective home owners, as there are
older, more established homes in the town that come at a lower price tag; on
the other end of the spectrum prospective buyers can choose a large piece of
property on which to build their dream home, stables and all!
Along with good employment opportunities comes excellent schools, this
region north of Dallas is renowned for the outstanding schools, both public
and private. You cannot go wrong in choosing to move and live in Parker!
As if all this were not enough, the seasons here are spectacular,
although the summers can be a little warm, the rest of the year is mild, and
allows for outdoor activities all year round. You will love Parker, so come
on in and join the Parker family! |
